A warm welcome to Allen Fish, elected as President of our Society for 1995
Allen lives at Milperra, with his wife Nancy, and has recently retired after 37 years with State Rail.
His early years were spent at Cootamundra. It was there that his interest in birds began and has continued throughout his life. He now specialises in Superbs, Cloncurrys and the Asiatics, including mutations.
He has many friends amongst the Riverina aviculturists at Wagga, Temora, West Wyalong and Cootamundra. Native parrots are very widely kept throughout this area and in fact it is quite surprising just how many people are keen on keeping and breeding parrots.
Allen is very anxious to give strong support to our Society and hopes to introduce fresh ideas and new programs to our meetings. He has already successfully arranged the Wagga Aviary Tour and has also brought forward a special members' "Bird Sale" night at our April meeting.
He believes captive breeding of our native birds substantially improves our knowledge. It gives the birds far more hope for a better future.
As a bird society, we too can plan on a busy and interesting future and we wish Allen a successful and satisfying time in his new job.
